DAYS 50 "The Look Of Love": Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes Look Back At Favorite Doug & Julie Moments!

Today is the 50th anniversary of Days of our Lives having premiered back on November 8th, 1965. And while for the next few weeks we will continue to cover and celebrate this milestone accomplishment, what would a look-back be without the iconic Salem supercouple Doug and Julie, played by real-life longtime spouses, Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes!
The duo met and fell in love while working on Days of our Lives, got married, then Doug and Julie said their first “I do’s”! All of this part of the fascinating history of the long-running NBC soap, and this beloved duo.
Bill and Susan chose a few of their favorite romantic Doug and Julie moments with TV Insider! They included: Doug sings “The Look of Love”, Julie dreams of dancing with Doug, and Doug and Julie’s first weeding!
When discussing their on-screen 1976 wedding Susan related: “We used the very same words on the air that Bill and I had used in our own wedding.“We took them from First Corinthians, the Book of Ruth—‘Whither thou goest, I will go.’ We also used ‘Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away…’ from Song of Songs. The words were intense and the poetry was magnificent—ideal for the climax of the Doug-and-Julie romance.” Bill Hayes added: “The wedding was the epitome of what Days has always done best. We give our audience hope for the future!”

Doug and Julie are my all time favorite supercouple, and i consider them the first and longest lasting supercouple in daytime…Days was the classiest soap under Bill Bell and Pat Falken Smith and Elizabeth Harrower-Susans mother in real life was also fine as the soaps writers! I used to skip school just to watch Days…i wish for the shows 50th tptb wouldve recreated Dougs place and for a whole hour the entire show was devouted to Doug and Julie and full of flashbacks to show todays audience not only how romantic soaps used to be but how far better the character-driven stories kept us tuning in tomorrow!

My mom watched DAYS, sometimes I watched with her even though I was very young. It wasn’t as explicit then as it is now. I remember him singing Rogers&Hart’s “Tne Most Beautiful Girl in the World” to Julie. I thought it was his original song he wrote just for her! Then I saw the movie “Jumbo” on TV, lol. To this day I prefer Doug’s version. Then, as now, the most beautiful couple in the world.
Bill Hayes was also a singer in the 1950s on Your Show Of Shows and also was one of three who sung The Ballad Of Davey Crockett-his version was the most popular and reached number one for several weeks…my sister has the record!…on Days, Doug and Julie were the most romantic couple in all of daytime…you are right…it wasnt as explicit as it is now…i would rewatch those 70s episodes over if available…it wasnt always all gloom and doom as it is today but its still entertaining and the best soap at the moment…imo
I love Doug and Julie and hope they will be used more for real story. Can’t wait to see Doug’s reaction to Aiden’s wedding night behavior.

Didn’t see their original wedding. Maybe it’s on YouTube. I wish Days would put out a DVD of great moments from the first 50 years.
i seen it originally when it aired…an actual beautiful wedding without the predictable interuption used too often today…it was on utube…i rewatched part of it a few years ago…those were the Days!!!
Love Doug and Julie! Loved Doug’s place, and when Doug would sing there! Now, those were the Days…. 🙂 Hope they do flash backs of Doug’s place for the 50th Anniversary celebrations.
SO glad to see Doug and Julie get more to do as the show approached its 50th. Hope that continues. They represent for me (someone who has watched since he was in kindergarten, left and has now come back) a current embodiment of the Horton legacy (Tom and Alice).
It’s interesting…I was just watching that “The Look of Love” scene with Doug and Julie the other day on youtube listed under Days of Our Lives: classic 60’s and 70’s, and I absolutely love, love, love that scene. There was also a nice Addie and Doug scene among others.

Serena Scott Thomas to Days of our Lives, But What Role Will She Play?
Look who’s coming to Salem next? In a tease on their official Instagram account, Days of our Lives has revealed that Serena Scott Thomas has been on set and will debut in an upcoming role, leaving many fans guessing just who might she play.
The English actress and documentary producer has previously starred in Diana, Her Story as Diane Prince of Wales, Dr. Molly Warmflash in the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough, and played the villainess ‘Watcher” in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, and Bruce Willis’ wife in the film, Hostages among others.
Serena is the younger sister of Kristen Scott Thomas, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in The English Patient. Several DAYS fans are already weighing in that Serena will play Konstantine’s (John Kaeplos) wife.

However, NannyKat 63 may have it all figured out the best, when she posted, that not only will “Serena play Kostantine’s wife,” but the character “had an affair with Victor Kiriakis and got pregnant.” Thus, making Xander (Paul Telfer) her son. She went on to theorize, “Perhaps, And John and Steve will find her in the nick of time… and she’ll enter in time to stop the wedding of Maggie to him. Xander will find out his true identity then. The baby was given to Victor’s brother to be raised in Scotland.”

Sounds plausible to us! Another guess came from donnamoore_23 who said, “Ya’ll think he could be Bobberette ‘s mom or sister or .. SOMETHING to do with his story .. someone who can back up what trauma he went through to be so sick? 🤷🏼♀️ but I think y’all are right could be Katerina.”

Two DAYS stars, Tamara Braun (Ava) and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) also shared comments on Serena Scott Thomas’ upcoming appearance on DAYS. Godfrey simply said, “YES!!!! while Braun add her guess, expressing, “Ava’s mum. Oh wait, her mom was killed by her dad. Or was she? 🤔”

Arianne Zucker Reveals Her Last Days of our Lives Airdate
Arianne Zucker, who is no longer on contract with Days of our Lives, and involved in a lawsuit against the show, took to her You Tube channel and in her latest episode, and offered up what she believes is her final airdate as Nicole Walker DiMera.
The actress expressed: “I was really appreciative of the amount of support that I have had since leaving Days of our Lives.” She then added, “My last airdate, I think, it’s July 29th and we’ll see how things go after that.”
Zucker went on to say how she has continued to receive overwhelming support since suing her former employer, Corday Productions, with the allegations that former Co-EP Albert Alarr sexually harassed her and other females at the show, and that the production company entity did not respond sufficiently and adequately.

After lodging her complaints, Zucker said her agents received two notices that Corday Productions were reducing her pay before her character was ultimately written off. Zucker’s contract expired in January and since DAYS tapes over six months ahead it brings her final airdate, which as of now, to the end of July. Zucker is suing for harassment, discrimination, retaliation, negligent hiring and supervision, and wrongful termination among other claims.
Previously, Corday Productions issued this statement on Zucker’s claims: “The allegations in Ms. Zucker’s lawsuit are without merit. Corday Productions, offered to renew Ms. Zucker’s contract including offering her a pay increase. Rejecting Ms. Zucker’s counteroffer does not constitute retaliation. Complaints about Mr. Alarr’s on-set behavior were promptly investigated. Corday Productions fully cooperated with the impartial investigation and subsequently terminated Mr. Alarr.”
On her You Tube channel, Arianne went on to thank everyone who came out to the east coast fan event last weekend that featured several DAYS stars. She expressed, “My whole goal is to really help people stand up for themselves.” Arianne also shared she thinks it’s important for people who have gone through trauma to help each other through it.

On DAYS, Nicole is still in the dark that Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) is raising her child, Jude, with Eric (Greg Vaughan), and Eric also doesn’t know that he is raising his biological son. Will Eric and Nicole reunite and will Nicole find out what Sloan, Melinda and Leo (Greg Rikaart) have been hiding for months, before she exits the show? Stay tuned. There has been on official confirmation from DAYS that July 29th is Zucker’s final airdate.

DAYS and ‘Supernatural’ Alum Jensen Ackles Joins the Cast of Justin Hartley’s CBS Series ‘Tracker’
Look who’s joining Justin Hartley’s hit freshman drama, Tracker! None other than another soap alum, former Days of our Lives and Supernatural favorite Jensen Ackles.
In a reveal via Hartley’s Instagram on Thursday, Ackles is set to play Hartley’s on-screen brother on the CBS procedural drama. In Tracker, Colter Shaw is estranged from his brother, Russell, which has been a big part of the mystery of season one.
Ackles is best known for his long run as Dean Winchester in The CW’s Supernatural, a role he reprised in the prequel of the series The Winchesters. He also recently starred in ABC’s Big Sky as Sheriff Beau Arlen and in The Boys as Soldier Boy.

Jensen was the original Eric Brady on Days of our Lives, a role he played from 1997-2000, before departing for the world of primetime and film. Eric was in love with Nicole played by Arianne Zucker. The part of Eric was recast with Greg Vaughan taking over the role in 2012.

In his Instagram post, Justin thanked everyone for watching Tracker, and then revealed Ackles as the surprise casting announcement in the role of Russell, while Jensen was playing pinball in the video! No word yet on when Jensen’s first episode as Russell will air. Stay tuned.
