In the closer of 2024, AEW capped off the year with an outstanding pay-per-view that featured some high level athleticism and drama with Worlds End emanating from Orlando, Florida on Saturday night, December 28th from Addition Financial Arena.

The event featured a stack card and brought it with the surprise returns of two of AEW’s most legendary stars, who have been out of action all year with injuries and medical conditions, Adam Copeland and Kenny Omega.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights – from the best matches to major moments of the night. First, the Continental Classic held its semi-finals with the winners going for the title later in the evening.

In the opener, Will Ospreay, the clear crowd favorite and pro wrestling’s “Aerial Assassin” faced former friend-turned-enemy, Kyle Fletcher.  In a dazzling match move for move, moment for moment, Ospreay, who was bloodied in the match and Fletcher had the crowd on their feet. Eventually, Ospreay scored the pin. However, he needed major stitches to get him ready to face his opponent in the finals which turned out to be his longtime rival, Kazuchika Okada, who bested Ricochet in their semi-final.

It should be noted that following his loss, Ricochet was pelted with toiler paper thanks to the arrival of Swerve Strickland, who promised his old pal, “Trevor” that if he lost he would embarrass him setting up a major rivalry for 2025.

When it came time for the final, Kazuchika Okada defeated Will Ospreay with his patented Rainmaker to win the classic and retain the belt. Now celebrating in the ring, Okada is interrupted by the return of his longtime rival and AEW EVP, Kenny Omega. Heading to the ring, Omega hands the belt to Okada, but tensions are noticeable. Could this mean Omega will be in action in 2025?

The AEW women showed up with two memorable matches. First, Mariah May defeated Thunder Rosa to retain her AEW World’s Women’s Championship in a Tijuna Street Fight. “The Glamour” used a bag of dirt to secure the win.

However, the match for the AEW TBS Women’s Championship, between Mercedes Mone and Kris Statlander, delivered high impact, great drama, and knockout performances by both women. In the end, Mone bested Statlander getting her shoulders down for a three-count in the most unique fashion. However, during the match, it was Mone’s series of Eddie Guerrero-style suplexes (her idol and friend) that was most memorable bringing the crowd to their feet and showing that love her or hate. her, Mercedes is indeed the C.E.O.

MJF and Adam Cole did battle for the Dynamite Diamond Ring, This match was long-awaited after the fallout of the former besties featuring multiple back-stabbings and double-crosses. On this night, MJF took advantage of the ref, and scored the victory on Cole, but that was not enough. Afterwards, he went to get a chair to re-break, Cole’s ankle, but Cole’s buddies, the Undisputed Kingdom, came to the ring for the save, and it that even included Kyle O’Reilly who reunited with the group to help save Cole.

In another excellent match-up, International Champion Konosuke Takeshita defeated “Powerhouse” Hobbs to retain the title as manager Don Callis celebrated with his protege leaving ex-stablemate, Hobbs, finished on the mat.

In the final match of the night, Jon Moxley retained his AEW World Heavyweight Championship over Orange Cassidy, Hangman Adam Page and Switchblade Jay White, with interference by the Death Riders. After pinning White for the victory, Moxley (who this time was bleeding out the back of his head, not the front for a change) was going to do more damage when all of a sudden FTR returned, followed by the Rated-R Superstar, Adam Copeland, and the trio is now dubbed, “Rated FTR.”

After clearing the ring, the camera went to the box seats in the arena, where Copeland’s former best friend and tag partner, Christian Cage was sitting with the Patriarchy. Cage looked upset and shocked that Adam was back in action and now poses a threat to Cage cashing in on his title shot at any time in the future.

As AEW Worlds End went off the air, the announce team revealed the first big TV match of 2025.  Circle this Wednesday night, January 1st when “Rated FTR” goes up against the Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Moxley) during AEW DynamiteFight For the Fallen to help those affected by the hurricane in Ashville, North Carolina.

This Sunday, a very familiar face from both AEW and the WWE will guest-star on Tracker, America’s top primetime broadcast television show with soap opera alum, Justin Hartley (ex-Adam, Y&R and ex-Fox, Passions).

That’s when none other than Chis Jericho, who has been concentrating on acting roles along with his European tour with his rock band Fozzy will appear in the episode as Virgil Dean.

In the meantime, not only is Chris appearing alongside Justin Hartley in a case of good vs evil on the March 22 episode entitled “Breakaway,” but he will also be seen in the new Apple TV+ series Margo Has Money Troubles which begins streaming on April 15.

In the synopsis for the Sunday, March 22 episode of Tracker, after Baxter (David Ramsey), a veteran stuntman, disappears following a risky stunt, his girlfriend, Laura (Erica Durance), calls Colter (Justin Hartley) to investigate a B-movie set, uncovering shady producers and a trail that leads into a dangerous underground world.

*It should be noted that for the first time, in a few years, Tracker was dethroned as TV’s most-watched show for the ratings the second week of March. That slot was taken over by Marshals, the Taylor Sheridan-backed project featuring the return of Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton. Tracker did come in at #2.
