AEW All Out: Top Five Takeaways Featuring Stunning Returns and a New Women’s Champ
Coming out of this weekend’s pro wrestling extravaganza of WWE Wrestlepalooza and AEW All Out both on Saturday, September 20, try as they might to put a damper on AEW with the WWE using counter-programming tactics with the never-before-heard-of new premium-live-event, and their premiere on their new streaming home ESPN, in the end critics and pundits are giving the night to AEW for its overall show, as opposed to the lackluster one delivered by the WWE.
While AEW All Out 2025 from the ScotiaBank Arena in Toronto, Canada was not picture-perfect and AEW’s pay-per-views tend to go exceedingly long, there were some very exciting memorable moments that won our hearts.
So, below are are top five takeaways starting with our favorite at number 1.

1. Jack Perry returns seemingly as “Jungle” Boy Jack Perry and reunites with Luchasarus
After the Young Bucks didn’t win the AEW tag team championships in a four-way ladder match. Suddenly Jack Perry came out of nowhere and confronted the Nick and Matt Jackson in the ring. This all stems from the ‘Bucks’ hanging up on a call from Perry, who for the last few years has been in total heel-mode. As TV and soap fans know, Perry is the son of the late actor Luke Perrym the former star of Beverly Hills 90210 who passed away at 52. And, it looks like some of those acting chops have been inherited by his son, since Jack delivered in a pivotal moment in his AEW career.
Suddenly, the ‘Bucks’ were about to hit the BTE Trigger on Perry, when suddenly the lights went out in the arena. Next, on the video screen played clips of Jack at the cemetery where he had previously buried his ‘Jungle Boy’ moniker, digging up the casket he previously put six feet under, and strapping it to his truck and traveling down the road. Cut to: a scene in a lab where Perry has ‘Killswitch’ the former monster Luchasarus. Suddenly, he wakes up.
Back inside the arena, the lights come up as Luchasarus is the ring and he choke slams the Young Bucks. Next, Perry tells Luchasarus to get rid of his Killswitch belt, so he throws it in the audience and the two former tag team partners and friends hug it out! The crowd goes wild as Jungle Boy’s theme music hits, “Ah oh oh oh oha,” singing and chants fill the arena. It was the feel-good moment of the night. Hopefully, this week on ‘Dynamite’ or ‘Collision,’ we see the duo return to form.
2 WWE’s got AJ Lee, well, AEW brought back Beth Copeland (Phoenix)
In a perfect counter-programming move by AEW, while WWE had their mixed-tag match coming up between CM Punk and the returning AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, during the opening tag team match at All Out, featutinh Canada’s own Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, FTR’s manager, Stokely Hathaway pulled the referee out of the ring when his team was about to lose the match. However to make the save and srunning down the ring ramp was Beth Copeland (Phoenix) who speared Stokley.
After winning the match, and as Beth, Adam, and Christian were celebrating in the ring, Kip Sabian of the former ‘Patriarchy’ aligning himself with FTR, handcuffed Adam Copeland to the ropes and delivered a devastating pile driver to Beth as her husband watched in horror. This opens up the door for story and developments in the months to come.
3. Adam Copeland pays homage to John Cena with a Five Knuckle Shuffle
Many wrestling fans know that one of John Cena’s all-time rivalries was with Adam “Edge” Copeland when the latter was in the WWE. As names get bantered about and speculations reigns supreme of just who Cena’s last match will be with before he retires in December, many hope it will be “Edge.” However, that doesn’t seem likely now that Copeland is over at the rival AEW.
However, during his match with FTR, Copeland paid tribute to Cena, delivering Cena’s patented Five Knuckle Shuffle and Attitude Adjustment. Was this done as a signal to Cena, or Copeland’s way of saluting him as the GOAT from afar? Stay tuned.
4. A stunned “Timeless”Toni Storm loses the AEW Women’s World Championship to Kris Statlander
If you blinked you missed the shocking pin, in the fatal four-way match that Storm asked for taking on all competitors who wanted a shot at her title belt, but in the end, it came back to bite her. What was great about this moment was going in to All Out, no one had Storm losing the title to anyone including Statlander.
In the twist, Kris used the Seat Belt hip toss which “Death Riders” member Wheeler Yuta suggested for her to use weeks ago. The way Statlander is being presented, we don’t know if she will be revealed to be a full heel and join the ‘Riders’ or splinter off with Yuta, or be an admirable babyface champion. Statlander, who was one of the original wrestlers in the company when they started back in 2019, shared how this was a long-time coming in the post-show media scrum, citing how knee injuries had derailed her, and how this is a moment marked by perseverance as she is overcome adversity to be the new Women’s champ
5. PAC is back, just in time to put Darby Allin in a coffin.
In the Darby Allin vs. “Death Rider” leader, Jon Moxley’s coffin match, things were looking up for Allin after now ring-announcer Bryan Danielson pointed to Darby to go inside his gym bag. Once he did while on the outside of the ring, it revealed a plastic bag, which is what Moxley used to suffocate Danielson with. Now Allin returned the favor, and was about to close the lid on the coffin with a bleeding Moxley in it. Suddenly a returning PAC, who had been out for several months from an injury, took out Allin and saved the day and the match for the “Death Riders” and Moxley.
Now, the “Death Riders” have PAC and Daniel Garcia is his new heel turn rejuvenating their clique, although it’s still unexplained what they’re reason is behind their destructive ways and being so heinous. Maybe one day we will find out?
As for great wrestling matches which AEW always serves up in spades, there were two on top of the list during All Out. The main event featuring Hangman Adam Page defeating Kyle Fletcher to retain his AEW World championship and Kazuchika Okada retaining the AEW United Championship over Konosuke Takshita and Mascara Dorada. The latter, delivering move after incredible move.

AEW Honors Ted Turner with 10-Bell Salute

Ted Turner, the billionaire businessman, who turned a struggling Atlanta news station into a media empire with first 24-hour news channel, CNN, died on Wednesday, May 6 at the age of 87. Turner died reportedly ‘surrounded by his family.”
However, Turner’s impact is felt far and wide with how he revolutionized cable television as we know. One such way is how Turner believed in professional wrestling, when other network executives didn’t. Turner, who helped launch TNT and TBS, and purchased World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in the late 1980s and gave it a primetime slot.
Through his leadership, the landscape of pro wrestling was changed forever, leading to the infamous Monday Night Wars” between the WWE and WCW with their flagship shows, Monday Night Nitro vs. Monday Night Raw. Since 2019, wrestling has been back on TNT and TBS in a big way with AEW’s Dynamite and AEW Collision.

TED TURNER BELIEVED IN PRO WRESTLING
Last night, All Elite Wrestling opened its broadcast with a tribute to Turner, which led to the 10-bell salute, which is given to someone from the world of professional wrestling had passed on.
AEW commentator Tony Schiavone said at the top of the special three-hour Dynamite and Collision episode. “Ted Turner believed in pro wrestling. He believed in you, the fans, and he believed that pro wrestling belonged on national television.” Schiavone who was also a commentator for WCW noted that it was because of Turner’s vision that pro wrestling found a home on TBS and later in the 90s with TNT, sharing, “Generations of fans around the world knew that we were destination viewing.”
Schavione recalled, “I knew that firsthand. I began in the studio in TBS in 1985. Decades later, because of the foundation that was laid by Ted Turner, we still survive today through the leadership of Tony Khan in AEW, through the leadership of Warner Discovery, wrestling still survives.”
STING RECALLS TED TURNER STANDING UP TO EXECS
Suddenly, in a special appearance, pro wrestling and WCW legend, Sting, came to the ring and addressed the crowd in Charleston, South Carolina and at home. “Can you imagine having an all-in billionaire who absolutely loved pro wrestling? I can’t believe what (Turner) did for us. He was completely committed to us, devoted to us in every conceivable way.”
Sting went on to tell the story of how Turner stood up to the executives at CNN Towers. ‘We don’t know about this whole pro wrestling thing. I think it’s time to cut them off because we’re always in the red, Ted would share. “I’d look at all of them and say, you wrestlers just keep on doing what you’re doing because I got some deep pockets.’”
“There wouldn’t be a TNT title, there wouldn’t be a Sting. There wouldn’t be a Darby Allin. There wouldn’t be a Tony Schiavone here tonight. You wouldn’t be here tonight. So, thank you, once again, Ted,” Sting said as he concluded his comments. Moments later came the emotional ten-bell salute (you can watch it below)
Earlier on Wednesday, AEW president Tony Khan shared his own tribute on X, expressing, “It’s a very sad day in the world of television and certainly in the world of professional wrestling. The man who gave us this platform, the man who created TBS and TNT and so many great television channels and so many great concepts in the field of television, the late great Mr. Ted Turner has passed.”
So, what are your thoughts on the passing of Ted Turner? How without the billionaire’s love of pro wrestling, WCW and now AEW would not have had the platform they have to bring fans around the world the sports entertainment shows that they love? Comment below.
