GH Casting Two Female Roles: Is One A Recast For Sabrina?
General Hospital sent out casting notices for two female roles according to Soap Opera Uncensored, and one of them is fueling the possibility that the ABC soap opera may be recasting, or temporarily recasting, the role of Sabrina, currently played by Teresa Castillo, as the actress is slated to begin her maternity leave shortly.
The casting breakdown details: “Hispanic. 27-33. Beautiful, passionate, dynamic. Originally from Mexico, she has come to Port Charles to pursue a career in medicine. This is a major recurring role.. Please only submit actresses that are open to the possibility of a Contract Role as well.” Now as GH viewers know, the one thing is that Sabrina is originally from Puerto Rico, not Mexico. So take that as you will.
The other role is for the part of Noreen: “Caucasian, mid 40s, a delicate beauty with strength and fire underneath her initial frail presence…CONTRACT ROLE”
So what do you think; is one a recast a Sabrina and the other a possible new love interest for Patrick (Jason Thompson)? Or, could it be the much talked about Nina? Who do you think should be considered for these roles? Who would you like to see on GH that could fit the bill? Weigh-in!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

One can only hope. TeCa never worked in the part of Sabrina. The definition of what they want is the TeCa Anti-Sabrina. Her Sabrina is not dynamic or passionate. I would love to see someone in the role that would light a fire under JT that is simply missing in Patrina scenes.
Please higher “Lindsay Hartley”
Wow, I’d like that, Michael. I think Lindsey would be perfect for this role…she does have spunk and is an excellent actress…good idea!
Lindsey Hartley is the actress that first popped into my head as well.
I agree Lindsay would be great in the role. She has fire too.
Michael, I think you are spot on, and I totally agree, Lindsay Hartley would be a PERFECT hire in the role described above, whether it is a Sabrina recast or not !!!!!
I hope they take our advice and hire her whether to replace Sabrina or not
Noreen=Nina
Thats what im thinking too…
Hopefully the new Sabrina doesnt roll her R’s for only one character! “Noreen” hopefully its Michelle Stafford and her and Ned fall in love.
Teresa Castillo is Spanish in real life. Most all Hispanic speakers roll their “R” ‘s.
I understand that BUT she only does that when she speaks to Carlos and none of her other dialogue is spoken in her native tongue.
So do Italians, roll their r’s that is. My nonna(grandma) rolls her r’s because she is from Italy and immigrated as an adult….hard to lose the accent. My parents and we, the children, do not roll our r’s…..it seems that only those of Hispanic heritage, wether they are born here or not, acquire that accent. Spaniards ( European) do not. Ms. Castillo’s heritage may be hispanic, but she is American. However, I think she only rolls the r when she says Carrrrrlos. Lol
I don’t think she is Spanish, ….I think she is Hispanic….there is a big difference between Spain, which is in Europe, and other countries that share a modicum of the language. Spanish = Spaniard= Castilian= European.
Hispanic means having a hint of Spanish heritage. Just because Hispanics speak the language does not make them Spanish.
French is spoken in Haiti…this does not make the people French.
French is also spoken in Quebec, …this does not make the people French…the same goes for So. Africa, US, Canada and all other English speaking countries…does not mean they are English.
Oh, man…I have been saying that and hoping it could be Stafford. I love her…perhaps Y&R’s loss will be GH’s gain…yeeeeesssss!!!!
Sounds like Sabrina and Nina to me.
Michelle Stafford as Nina and as Michael suggested, Lindsey Hartley as Sabrina.
I think it could be a temporary recast for Teresa’s maternity leave to keep the story going.
I agree…
I wonder if it a temp recast?
I don’t think the show would recast Sabrina while Teresa Castillo is nearing maternity leave. However i’m wondering if the show will recast Sabrina while the actress is on maternity leave because it wouldn’t be the first time a soap did something like that.As for the character of Noreen i thinking that’ll eventually turn out to be Silas’s wife Nina that they are casting.
I have watched this show twice in 6 weeks once to see Donna Mills stunt casting and the other to watch the three Carly’s. If the actress who plays Sabrina is leaving I do not blame her with all the bashing of her and her character I would run to the nearest exit door. I only hope she stays off social media I would hate to be having a baby and putting myself thru this kind of misery!
I know..I feel really badly for her.
Woah, I don’t feel bad for her at all. She isn’t going through anything worse than what other soap actors go through. I never saw anyone bash the actress personally. And there is nothing wrong with bashing a fictional person. Sabrina was an ill conceived, one dimensional character, badly written and badly acted and she was force fed to the audience.
No one could replace Sabrina, Teresa Castillo shines in this role.
It may be a temp move, look for her to be back and with Patrick’s baby.
I totally agree with lovesgh… I love Teresa Castillo as Sabrina…. I want her back with Patrick & their baby
oh gawd, more characters??? isn’t this show bloated with newbies as it is? Does anyone give a rats a** about Nina, Silas, James or Oily Lipped Donna Mills? I don’t. BORING!
I do.
I do as well. I love the way this story is playing out. I watched yesterday in shock that the bomb shell about Nathan/James came out so quick. The writing for GH is hot as hell right now. Not to mention the men..now this is daytime…welcome back soaps :0
I do. Would get kinda boring with just 1 or 2 people…dontcha think?!
Hey, Shay…are you reading this? And you call me clairvoyant? LOL. …. Your dream of never seeing Ms Castillo on GH may come true. Aahh, I know she has that whine in her voice, but it like the actress. She seems sweet. I wish her a safe delivery and a healthy newborn.
Indeed I am, FAS….but my criticisms were never simply aimed at the actress alone. I don’t know how far back you read my postings, but I have had issues with the poorly defined nature and juvenile aspects of the character and the Disney-esque storyline, too. As far as I was concerned, it was always a three-pronged problem…. and I tried mightily to make that understood. I know some TC fans thought it was a personal thing, but I just felt that “Sabrina” was a total disaster in every way possible..an epic fail. Hence,.I don’t know that simply changing the “face” of the character is the solution…particularly if the thought is to continue placing her with Patrick. As a couple, they simply do not work….and switching actresses really doesn’t remedy that fact! But I guess we shall have to wait and see what this is all about…at any rate, I wish all expectant mothers safe deliveries, healthy newborns and happy lives. TC is no exception.
Oh….she’ll be here. Shay wouldn’t miss news like this for the world!!! She’s probably just out buying party hats and pinatas right now ;).
Oh but I just wanted to add, yes the actress has always seemed sweet and I do share your sentiments about her real life baby. I really do think she is a lovely person who has had an extraordinarily tough job.
That said, her fake character can take a tumble down the stairs tomorrow. That would be super.
I like Teresa, but that fact does not mean I like her acting. Perhaps in a different role…who knows. I do see Shay’s point. Patrick and Sabrina are not a good fit. I agree with Shay…..that the writers should not have given the role to such a passive actress. I think Sabrina isn’t able to fill Robin’s shoes. It is sad, but true. Most viewers compare these women. I am not saying it is fair, but subconsciously, many do that. Sabrina was introduced specifically to take Robin’s place. It is not working…she cannot seem to fulfill the viewer’s expectations….not her fault….poor thing. I believe Sabrina will not be recast. She will simply go on maternity leave. If she is coming back, she should not be with Patrick. I really believe the baby is not his.
P.S. That has to be the BEST post of the year thus far, Jules!!!!! My compliments! I’m still laughing about it….. : )
no one can replace sabrina she is the best actress and the best love interest for patrick
YES!…. CHARLEATHEA I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU…. I LOVE PATRINA FOREVER!! IF THEY TEAR THEM APART, THEY WILL LOSE MORE VIEWERS LIKE ME & MY WHOLE COMMUNITY & GH RATINGS WILL GO DOWN THE DRAIN…..HONESTLY!!
Another contract role? Oy vey.
Just. Kill off the Sabrina character. No recast is needed. GH needs to work with Kimberly even in recurring and keep Robin and Patrick together. I am not interested in seeing Patrick move one. I saw Patrick with enough women on GH. It is old now. Patrick can get story but doesn’t need a woman. I could never see Patrick with anyone but Robin. Their love and bond is too strong.
AGREED!
I love the way you put that Cathy. That is so true.
GH SHOULD KEEP ROBIN OFF THE SHOW… KILL HER OFF ALREADY… I’M JUST SO SICK & TIRED OF HER COMING & GOING USING GH AS HER REVOLVING DOOR…. COME BACK WHEN SHE’S FINANCIALLY BROKE & LEAVE WHEN SHE GOT ENOUGH SAVINGS IN PURSUING HER DESIRED CAREER-DIRECTING…. C’MON ENOUGH IS ENOUGH… LET THE SHOW MOVE ON WITHOUT ROBIN ON THE SHOW…. PATRICK NEEDS TO BE A MAN & MOVE ON…..!!!
I think they should bring in Lindsay Hartley to fill in for Teresa Castillo and the other role is most likely Nina and I am really praying that they hire Julie Pinson for that role. I miss her in daytime.
Julie Pinson is a bad actress, her acting puts me to sleep. LMAO. Lindsay Hartley, great choice as Sabrina. Lindsay is a wonderful actress.
I like Julie and probably liked her best as Eve on Port Charles. I thought she had chemistry with Scotty, so bringing her on & throwing her in the mix with Scottie would be fun. I also think of Susan Haskell when I read that description. She would be great.
Castillo is going on maternity leave and they might want a back up in case she decides to not come back. Who could blame her with the endless amount of crap that gets dumped on her on a daily basis by the internet trolls?
She gets no more dumped on than anyone else.
Because I am not a fan of her character or her portrayal that makes me an internet troll? Really? This character has been a non-starter since day one and has been propped time after time to make her work. Give it up. Move on. Find someone who really fits the description of passionate and dynamic.
Really….look at poor “Robocop”…..he’s been taking quite a beating here since day one!
I know, Babs–I do not understand the persecution complex! Has any one read the vicious comments people have made about Kimberly?
Boy I agree with you on that point mfarris70!
We don’t know for sure if the character the show is casting is a recast Sabrina but even if said it would be in poor taste to do it while Teresa is on maternity in a way it could be a smart move by the show.Sabrina will probably be off screen for a couple of months before the new actress starts airing. So it won’t be an immediate recast in that TC is playing Sabrina in one episode and the recast starts airing in the next one. Also maybe Teresa wants to focus on being a full time mother right now and not have to juggle been a mother and been on GH at the same time.
Hope Teresa isn’t being recast as for a contract mid 40 s actress makes no sense unless they are casting a big name daytime actress like crystall Chappell or the actress from y&r r who played Phyllis . And as a love interest for Patrick ?? Makes no sense if they’re going to put someone in that age range with Patrick they mine as well put Patrick with Anna .
No way…they can’t cast Michelle Stafford as Sabrina. Stafford is almost 50. She is closer to Silas’ s age…perhaps, Nina?
Yes Michele stafford for Nina and no to recasting Sabrina. Michael fairman made it look like this new charater in her mid 40’s could be a possible love interest for Patrick ?? Or am I just reading that wrong? If Patrick is being giving a totally new love interest. ? Doesn’t make any sense to me.
Silas belongs with Sam damn it! Why oh why do they have to break up Silas and Sam!! Uugh!!! Love Silas and Sam. Don’t care about Nina or Jason!!!
I could never see Michelle Stafford as a “delicate beauty.” I was hoping or Melissa Archer as Nina, and she could fit the description, but she’s too young.
Melissa Archer is pretty, but not a delicate beauty. She’s is not reedy enough …too curvy…with all due respect. Are you trying to re-match her with Michael?…lol
love Teresa hope they don’t recast her. She is amazing hope they put her and Patrick back together,
Patrick, Sabrina, Emma and baby=family…<3
Love Michelle Stafford as well. I don’t know that she fits the bill as a ‘frail beauty’ though!
With these writers????? Even I’m not that stupid to take a roll on this poorly written show.
“Initial frail presence”…”strength and fire”… sounds a lot like Nina. I personally think Tamara Braun would be great in the role, but she just aired as Carly so that might be a bit weird. Maybe Gina Tognoni or Florencia Lozano?
As for the other role, I don’t see a purpose for recasting Sabrina. I would prefer they just write her off the show. If this is indeed for a new role, I think Lindsay Hartley would be a good choice.
However, the show really doesn’t need anymore new characters. Nina Clay has been mentioned so much recently, it wouldn’t surprise me if they brought her on, plus it would be a good move story wise. But recasting Sabrina, or creating a whole new role, is not what the show needs right now.
I would like to see Jamie Luna (Liza Colby) from All My Children. Ms. Luna has a fire in her belly and she shows it in the characters she plays!
Tasha, Nathan’s parentage had to be disclosed quickly before the siblings ended up in bed together.
Timmm, Sabrina/Teresa’s native tongue is English. She was born in the US of A. We are not talking about the spoken language, but rather the accent. Teresa does not have the typical Hispanic accent ….I think she has worked at it and succeeded. The same can be said for Carlos. He assumes the accent as an affectation, only when it is convenient to him.
Sabrina needs to go, and Nina needs to stay dead. GH has many great characters to focus on. No need to add more, just for the sake of adding new people. It doesn’t even feel like Port Charles anymore.
I agree that Sabrina does need to go and they should bring Robin (Kimberly M.) back. We should all stop watching GH if they do not.
Seriously? Well, I love this soap, regardless. KM left of her own free will. I do not care one way or another if she comes back, albeit I can appreciate the fans that have watched her grow up on GH wanting her back. But, I doubt anyone will stop watching if Sabrina stays or if Robin remains gone. I wish sleazy, lashless Luke would go far, far away to unknown parts, though.
I already have stopped. Not because of Sabrina. I want Robin to return. Even if she is with Jason and Sabrina with Patrick. I know Patrick will be jealous. But I really want Patrick with Robin. I will ever be the same if Patrick, Robin and Emma is not a family again. Sabrina can stay on the show but they need to put her in someone else orbit.
I think it’s casting for Nina. Don’t believe she’s dead. Is TC’s contract expiring? If it is, maybe that’s the reason for a recast if she decided not to renew. TC’s a young actress, wife & soon to be a 1st time mom. Clearly, her life’s taking on much greater meaning than a gig on a soap. She may have gotten what she wanted (& a lot of what she didn’t) out the exp. & is ready to move on, or maybe GH is… I don’t know if recasting the role is a good idea. I liked TC/Sabrina & was cool w/Patrina for what it was, while it lasted, b/c from the beginning I understood its purpose to act solely as a vehicle to move the primary s/l of reuniting scrubs, whilst simultaneously promoting TC. Mission accomplished. IMO it’s time to move Patrick on w/his own s/l. Give him something more to do than cry in his beer for Robin or be endlessly rubbing Sabrina’s tummy!
Thank you ! My sentiments, exactly.
Robin abandoned her family, she left on her own. It had nothing to do with Sabrina.
I agree. But, I still don’t think she and a Patrick belong together. …especially if the baby is Carlos’s,….I just have a feeling…I may be wrong. It will not go smoothly. In true, soap form, something will happen.
I am still a bit confused about their past relationship in Puerto Rico, where Sabrina was sent after her adoptive mother died. Supposedly Carlos and Sabrina met in High School? Seriously.?…he’s 12 or 13 years older in real life, and he looks it. TPTB are trying to pass him off as a 28 pr 29-year-old? Am I assuming this correctly? I suppose it doesn’t matter. I hope Carrrrlos is carted off to jail. It is always amazing to me that the writers think we are that stupid. Why not use an actor close to Sabrina’s age?…boy, Carlos must have been really dumb to have graduated High School at age 30 or so. Lol
while Lindsay Hartley is a good actress, she’s a bit old to replace the very young Teresa …
I beg to differ…they a re only a few years apart.
They are only a few years apart…as I stated above, TPTB don’t even look at that.
i dont know how old either is .. but Lindsey looks more mature .. and i am not arguing, simply stating my personal view
I know, I apologize if I gave the impression I though you were arguing. It was not my intent. I am sorry. Yes, Lindsey is much more mature, …maybe that’s what the character needs…a dose of maturity….peace. 🙂
Speaking of “too many newbies” in the cast – what about that Australian guy with the bad haircut that came back with Maxie? Couldn’t Maxie just come back alone – independent – fired up and rejuvenated with a new outlook?!
I know – off topic – but that guy is wasting air time that could be used for the established actors/actresses in the cast.
I read that they’re not going to recast Sabrina. But I think the roll of the caucasian, mid 40’s roll is for a recast of Robin. I read that they were going to recast Robin and possibly Jason. I’m ready for them to bring Jason back but not as the old Jason. I’m still mad at him for leaving the show saying he wanted to spend more time with his family in Tennessee and less then 3 months later he’s on another soap. Screw the old Jason!!!
