John-Paul Lavoisier Departs Days of our Lives With His Final Appearance!

On Tuesday’s December 20th episode of NBC’s Days of our Lives, John-Paul Lavoisier will exit the show as Phillip Kiriakis.  Although the news that the actor had been written-off surfaced months ago, his on-air wrap up airs today.

On yesterday’s episode, Phillip, after being drugged by Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) and surviving it, asks Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) to come away with him and they will start a new life together. Chloe says though she cares for him … she’s not in love with him. Phillip understands and tells Chloe that if she ever needs him, he will come back to Salem for her.

Now, Phillip will have a chance to have it out with his Uncle Deimos before he exits Salem!

As for Lavoisier, he will be seen in the upcoming online series, Ladies of the Lake. Of course, OLTL fans remember his work fondly as Rex Balsom,a role he played for ten years from 2002-2012.

Lavoisier’s DAYS cast mate, A Martinez (Eduardo) played tribute to JP via social media relating: “Today, Tuesday, the wonderful John Paul Lavoisier takes leave of Salem – for now. #DOOL #ClassAct #ProsPro #likenobodyelse

So, are you sad to see Phillip and JP exit the Salem canvas? Share your thoughts below.

Sorry this did not work out. Always liked the actor on OLTL. Seems DAYS has trouble with integrating new characters for these fan favorites. I hope the ship can be righted so we can balance the legacy and consistency of the serial with the new directions these fresh faces to Salem are created to travel.

Agreed Iakovos. It’s not only sad , but also, irritating how many of our outstandingly superlative faves have opened the door to Salem, only to exit with their tails tucked between their legs,( metaphorically speaking).
As yourself, I have always adored John-Paul. Godspeed!!

Wish they keep John Paul. He so hot and sexy awesome. Philip too ….

I’m going to miss Paul. Not so much, Philip.

I was very excited when I learned that John Paul was joining Days. I loved him as Rex on One Life to Live. Unfortunately, Days failed to give him anything meaningful to do.

Thank you for your effort John Paul and I wish you very much success in the future.

Looking forward to Anna Dimera returning to Days. January 9 is Leann Hunley first airdate. Welcome Back Leann. John Paul is a terrific actor, but was miscast as Phillip. Loved him on OLTL as Rex. Please Days bring back my madam, Vivian Alamain. I love louise Sorel she is a wonderful actress.

Hi, Claudio,
Oh, my gosh….I was not aware Anna was returning. I love, love, love her. I never got enough of her. She is en par with Vivian.
I’m with you….I would love to have her back, as well. I really get a kick out of Vivian. The ‘baddest’, most wonderful character/actress, in my estimation.
For now, Leann will have to do….sooo exciting!!

Hi, Celia, yes looking forward to Anna Dimera. Leann Hunley is a wonderful actress. my madam Vivian Alamain hopefully will be back very soon. I also love Hattie played by Deidre Hall. She is so funny lol, calling Roman Brady MR Roman.

@Claudio ; @Celia.

Our Madam: Exclusive: Louise Sorel Exits Days of Our Lives

by Michael Logan | Jun 2, 2011 4:01 PM EDT

I remember reading this… and she clearly said… she’d never return. argh! I can’t not agree… as much as I LOVE HER TO BITS TOO.

here’s just an excerpt

excellent read… just like the divine actor and character.

TV Guide Magazine: Perhaps you’re better off not knowing why this happened.
Sorel: I don’t know if it matters at this point. What if I did know the reason? Then what? At one point, one of the actresses on Days was told she was interfering with the ratings and hurting the show, so certain things were not being written for her. Who needs to hear that? Listen, actors are by nature gypsies. We pick up and move on. I realize in the long run that I’ll look back on this and it’ll just be one of those things. I would never go back to Days after this, even though Gary said, “You might be back someday.” I just can’t do it. I love the character. I love the people I’m working with. But I can’t deal with it anymore.

for all it’s worth…. Louise Sorel… just by being present… brings about giddy… high brow … FUN… feisty… clever… wit to no end.

Claudio … thank you for the footnote… on when the delicious Anna Devane RETURN.

that should read

PS: DAYS… when the light fades… in to the annuls of suds

MUST bring back…. Louise Sorel.

argh… dolt unmomento

Anna DiMera : January 9, 2017

YES

@Patrick.
Thanks, Patrick. I had no idea. The excerpt is very ‘opaque’; so, we can’t really discern its ‘nature’, but it is very telling that something did go on behind the scenes. It just wasn’t really talked about, am I right?…..By the same token, it sounds similar to Michael Muhney’s ‘ordeal’….except, that is a different ballgame, different players.
Lord only knows, eh? As, I’m sure, Cllaudio is, I am very disappointed. I love these types of characters and their ilk….also, Kristen DiMera, Faison and Dr. O. These actors are brilliant, and the characters they play shine a light on stage.

Now I will break out the booze lol. I am devasted now, I will never see my madam Vivian on Days again. Ok I will try to get over it. It will be hard Celia. I love dr. o on Gh. The lady can sing. I remember when she sang Peggy Lee classic is all that there is to love. The lady is talented. Patrick thank you so much, in telling us the news about Louise Sorel. Celia and I are updated. Merry Christmas too you Celia and to Patrick .

Thank you, Claudio…..
Joyous Christmas to you, as well, and a healthy New Year.

Anna (LeAnn Hunley) will be returning to with both Carrie and Austin in tow.

I want this ready made family so much. Roman acts ! I could truly see a reconciliation with the bombshell that is the one and only, Anna. Carrie is the new reigning Brady heroine. Rafe is excitable. They were magic. Im even ready to welcome Austin the man. A readymade family with so much tour de force. The best

They should rehire him back

I hate to say it but his character added zippo to the show – I am sure he is a very proficient actor, I am not saying otherwise. The writing on this show is so terribly lame it would be difficult for any actor to breathe life into these inane, monotonous scripts. The writing team at Days of our Lives must think we are still trapped in 1985 with these stale storylines.
They could really “rev things up” and be innovative with Paul, Sonny and Derrick, but no no, they probably won’t – instead we will have New Abby groaning and whining for the umpteenth time that she can’t let Chad know she’s still alive…..Yawn….

He was never right for the role.

Well, I’ve always been disappointed that J Kenneth wasn’t brought back even though I like JP. He’s done a great job despite little help from the writers/producers concerning his story. Such a waste of a talented actor & a Kiriakis character. Always liked Philip & Chloe so riding off together would have been sweet. Too many characters at Days playing background dancer to everyone else’s story.

They gave him nothing to do. Not one thing. He came in with the the Belle Sean Phillip Triangle, take 16,824,752. Imagine the surprise when that played out storyline went nowhere.

Phillip never interacted with characters not named Sean Belle Chloe or Kate. It was sad.

DOOL stockpiles talented actors and then gives them literally nothing to do. I can’t imagine this will change while Corday continues to control the destiny of this beloved and rudderless show

I was shocked today. I did not know he was written off. Yes I am very sad to see him leave. He was very attractive to watch everyday. Lol. Seriously, if a better script was written for Phillip, maybe he could have stayed on longer. I will miss him.

I was not a One Life to Live fan, but I always did enjoy John-Paul Lavoisier’s work, so when I heard of his hiring at Days of Our Lives last year in the role of Phillip Kiriakis, I was over the moon excited! And, I can say, he absolutely KILLED it in the role! He really did excel as Phillip and I truly feel it was the storylines he was put into really dictated the exit of Lavoisier. To me, he was and still is, the best Phillip that the soap has had, and should they choose to bring the role back, they welcome him back into the cast, as well. I never understood the hate for him or his portrayal of the role.

I would love to see another soap pick him up! Maybe General Hospital, either in a recast of a previous role, or in a newly-created role that would suit him.

Good luck to you! Hate to see you go. Saw 12-20-16 today episode to. S.

Philip is a legacy character & should be in Salem. I don’t understand why they’re writing him out, especially with Victor retiring. He should be the one running the company, instead of Deimos. They could have written a great storyline with Philip battling Deimos for control. And maybe Brady could have helped Philip. That would give him something to do besides mope around moaning for Theresa.
Sadly, they choose to get rid of great characters like Philip & they keep losers like Joey, Jade & JJ.

I thought he grew into the part. I am very sorry to see him go. If they give him good story, he will do it. Sexy but has acting talent. Hope they regret letting him go and bring him back.

He was the right man to play Phillip. I’ve been pissed about his firing for months now. Why did they bother bringing the character back if they were going to let him go faster than when they brought him back? Makes no sense to me.

Unfortunately, he fell victim of storyline and change of regime. I think Phillip’s return was a bit more on the side of Josh Griffiths, than it was from Dena Higley. And then, working with Ryan Quan, it’s clear the canvas was no longer fitting for him.

Love to see OLTL alums getting work. Love Philip Kiriakis. But this was an odd actor/character combination that never clicked for me. Jay Johnson casts a long shadow.

He could had been a good Philip but the writers failed to write for him and make the character his own

Maybe if hey bring back OLTL he can go back.

John is a very good actor and I’m really sad to see him leave Days.

SAYONARA…AND DON’T COME BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Great actor, I surely remember John Paul from OLTL. If GH smartens up, they will snatch him up as a regular. Have missed seeing him since the OL days – loved the storyline of Rex and Gigi. Unforgettable…love his energy.

I will miss Philip.. he is a very good actor and he is sexy.He played his part well with a lot of emotion..

He grew on me, but there is only one Phillip, JAY KENNETH JOHNSON!! They need to bring him back!! i met him in 2010 at the 45th Anniversary of DAYS! A real nice man!

I think John Paul is a fine actor, and he did a good job playing Phillip, but because I was so fond of Jay Kenneth Johnson in the role, it was hard to accept John Paul as Phillip. I wish that Jay would come back. Days could use him. He had good chemistry with everyone, and could be good and bad at the same time. I look forward to seeing John Paul in his other roles as he has a lot of talent. I always think recasts are hard for the actors if someone before them had the role for awhile because we have become attached to the former actor. Best of luck to John Paul!

If Days stays true to form he’ll be back through the revolving door in 8 – 12 months. Just ask Camila Banus, Greg Vaugahn, Freddie Smith, Daniel Cosgrove, Nadia Bjorlin, Brandon Beemer, Martha Madison, Kassie DePaiva, Christie Clark, Austin Peck, et al.

Camila Banus, just to justify, LEFT the soap, as did Freddie Smith. They are the only ones, out of the ones you’ve listed, that were not fired from their positions at the soap. So, their leaving was their own decision, as was their returns, as well!

He could have been great in the role if the writing had been better. I hope the powers that be bring him back again as they are doing with Greg Vaughn. JP can light up the screen if given half a chance.

Always wanted Jay Kenneth Johnson back as Philip, but I think that no matter who plays Philip the writers need to remember that Philip’s character lost his leg. I could never get past that. That just never made him Philip to me.

I really think that John-Paul Lavoisier would have made a WONDERFUL re-cast for the character of Dillon Quartermaine on General Hospital!

I am deeply saddened that we are losing a great actor and character , John Paul. Lavoisier. I hope at some poin th Cloe will call him back to Salem and he’ll accept. I will miss him dearly and wish him all the best.

Should have been Irrizarry (Deimos) who was ushered out the door. He is no ratings boast to Days, his character is overly propped to no avail unless you enjoy seeing Days history distorted!

Jaime…EXACTLY!!!!! The final straw (for me) was when he drugged Maggie!!!!! BEYOND DESPICABLE!!!!!

Happy Holidays, Jaime.

The greatest disservice to any actor is to be cast in the wrong role. JP is a strong actor who knows how to deliver his lines. However, weak writing brought about his early demise on Days. Scripts are so sporadic lately, for the most part. Then, the Chabby reveal has been taken to new levels of frustration for viewers. We all know what’s coming next, And why bring back such a weak character as Lani? Viewers were happy to see her leave, and now she’s back??? Why make her the unknown woman JJ had a one nighter with in Miami? Pretty transparent writing! Better get some good writers on this or Days will soon go the way of so many other daytime drama shows. With all the commercials they must be making some big $$$! Spend more on good writers. The actors and viewers deserve it.

I feel a little dumb here (well I haven’t yet watched today’s show actually) but I didn’t quite put 2 and 2 together in order to realize that the “mysterious gal” that JJ was “with” in Miami was Lani –
The writing on this show – holy toledo – it is truly lame. The only storyline that has been presented in a somewhat realistic light has been the current breast cancer (stage II) arc – at least they have tried to make it somewhat believable. The actors on this show are fine, some perhaps more proficient than others, but the writing team needs to look at the calander on the wall and realize it is not 1983 anymore –
For example, let’s see – Nicole flies to Chicago (which means she went to set #3 that looks exactly like Salem) and her friends warn her “it might be snowing there be careful!” —so any Soap nut KNOWS that she will get of course stuck with what’s her name and will have to help deliver the baby…..and then of course find out that she’s the true mother…uh huh…yeah….okay….that’s only been done to death since ice covered the Earth.
The writers need to tackle some more topical storylines…..

For 2017, here is a few ideas I would love to see. Bring back Jay Kenneth Johnson. Give Shawn a storyline. He is too good looking of a guy to be sitting around a police department. I am looking forward to the Eli/Valerie/Julie storyline. The return of Anna DiMera is thrilling as long as they do not make make her a ding bat that decides she misses Tony so much that she falls for Andre. I would love to see a new David Banning, a love interest for Kate and/or Anna. Anna and Kate could be a GREAT rivalry. I LOVE Marci Miller in the role of Abigail. Camilla Banus is so good when she is given a storyline. Please bring in a sibling for Sonny. Let him be a drug addict and see a real storyline of Sonny helping him through it. Give Hope a new storyline that doesn’t rehash the past. Her entire existence has been Bo, Aiden and Stefano for years. I am not sure Rafe is the answer. Lets see more Nicole and Maggie in the new year. Please hire Colleen Zenk as a new character that shakes things up in Salem. She is too beautiful not to be on our televisions every day.

He was at his best as Rex on OLTL. Loved the scenes with Rex and Bo. Wish by some miracle OLTL could come back.

Whoever has made the decision to get rid of John Paul Lavoisier, has made a HUGE MISTAKE!! He was interesting to watch and hands down, the very best Philip of all!! Will miss him! Maybe Days will come to their senses and get him back!!

DAYS and ‘Supernatural’ Alum Jensen Ackles Joins the Cast of Justin Hartley’s CBS Series ‘Tracker’

Look who’s joining Justin Hartley’s hit freshman drama, Tracker! None other than another soap alum, former Days of our Lives and Supernatural favorite Jensen Ackles.

In a reveal via Hartley’s Instagram on Thursday, Ackles is set to play Hartley’s on-screen brother on the CBS procedural drama. In Tracker, Colter Shaw is estranged from his brother, Russell, which has been a big part of the mystery of season one.

Ackles is best known for his long run as Dean Winchester in The CW’s Supernatural, a role he reprised in the prequel of the series The Winchesters. He also recently starred in ABC’s Big Sky as Sheriff Beau Arlen and in The Boys as Soldier Boy.

Jensen was the original Eric Brady on Days of our Lives, a role he played from 1997-2000, before departing for the world of primetime and film.  Eric was in love with Nicole played by Arianne Zucker. The part of Eric was recast with Greg Vaughan taking over the role in 2012.

In his Instagram post, Justin thanked everyone for watching Tracker, and then revealed Ackles as the surprise casting announcement in the role of Russell, while Jensen was playing pinball in the video! No word yet on when Jensen’s first episode as Russell will air. Stay tuned.

Wally Kurth Talks on His DAYS Daytime Emmy Nomination, His Emotional Scenes, and Remembering John Aniston

During our 2023 year-end honors at Michael Fairman TV, we named Wally Kurth as our pick for Best Overall Performance by an Actor for his double-turn as both Ned Quartermaine on General Hospital and as Justin Kiriakis on Days of our Lives. So, it was absolutely no surprise to us that Wally landed a Daytime Emmy nomination for his riveting work as a grieving Justin in the Supporting Actor category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

On DAYS, Justin had been put through the emotional wringer, of first, losing his beloved Uncle Vic, played by the late John Aniston, and then finding out that Victor was the supposed biological father to Justin’s son, Alex (Rob Scott Wilson). If you didn’t reach for the hankies during some of Kurth’s work in these scenes, we don’t know what will make you do so.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Wally to get his reaction to his fourth Daytime Emmy nomination in the last six years. Kurth was nominated in the Supporting category in 2018, 2020 and now 2024 and Lead Actor in 2021.

In addition, Wally shares what scenes were on his nominated reel, how John Aniston impacted his work, how he has changed as an actor over the years with a new outlook, and being the only actor out there with two long-running roles on two long-running soaps, and much more. Here’s what Wally had to share below.

Congratulations on your well-deserved nomination. You decided to submit yourself this year for Emmy contention in both Lead Actor for GH and Supporting Actor at DAYS, correct?

WALLY: I did. I thought the DAYS reel was a little more dramatic, much more emotional. I had thought with the way the judging goes that it might be a little bit more, winnable, if you will. I enjoyed and was proud of my work at General Hospital, so it’s all good. I’m thrilled. It’s always nice to be nominated.

Photo: JPI

What scenes did you ultimately choose for your Supporting Actor reel?

WALLY: I started chronologically, as always, trying to tell a little bit of a story. I actually started with a scene where Justin has to tell Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) that Victor’s (the late John Aniston) plane went down and it was not found. Then, the scene with Bonnie (Judi Evans) where I sort of have to let it all out, and grieve the loss of this man who was practically Justin’s father, but it was his Uncle Vic. We have a little scene talking about Victor, and then there is a short snippet at the funeral where Justin eulogizes Victor. Next, we jump to scene where Justin discovers the letter where Angelica admits that indeed Victor is Alex’s father (Rob Scott Wilson). So then, Justin has to tell Alex, and then I also sort of grieve the fact that I’m no longer his father. Justin basically lost his son. It was very dramatic and very emotional. I was guessing the judges would be like, “Hey! Enough with the crying! Stop, you big baby!” But, they didn’t. They must have thought that it was convincing enough that it felt really truthful at how Justin was upset about these two unfortunate realizations.

Photo: JPI

You bring up a really good point. I talk to actors all the time about crying on Emmy reels. Sometimes, many feel it might put voters off. But obviously, this time it worked well for you!

WALLY:  What I liked about the crying scenes was that, like in real life, you’re not crying all the time when something bad is happening, right? I think crying happens and it takes you off guard. It happens without you realizing it. These were all moments when Justin was alone, really. Bonnie comes in the room where Justin is just kind of like dealing with it. And then her coming in, opens up Justin and she is there to hold him. I think that often happens in real life. I thought that was correct for the writers to do that, you know, that Justin would break down when he was alone.

Photo: JPI

Did you feel the pressure of wanting to get these scenes when Victor died and at his memorial, just right due to the enormity to it, and to do justice for John Aniston?

WALLY: I allowed myself to use my heartbreak over John Aniston. I loved him. I just sort of allowed his presence for me in the scenes. It was sweet. It was good for me. I’m just thinking about it now and I feel teary-eyed. John was such a sweet man. He led by example, and he really did teach me how to be a professional actor, and he was a mentor. He never told me anything specific, but he was just John, and in the scenes, this was the time for me tell him how I feel.

Photo: JPI

Then, you had the heartbreaking scenes with Rob Scott Wilson where Justin tells Alex he is not his father!

WALLY:  I thought that was just really challenging material. As I get older, I just trust the material, and don’t get ahead of myself. I trust myself with the emotion. Just let it happen if it happens. When I first read it, I kind of imagined what it could look like and then you just let it unfold from there.

You’ve got Robert Gossett (Marshall, GH), A Martinez (Nardo, The Bay), Mike Manning (Caleb, The Bay), and Bryton James (Devon, Y&R) all in your category. Robert has won two Daytime Emmys in a row, last year for Supporting Actor and the year before for Guest Performer.

WALLY:  l love Robert. I worked with the character Marshall on General Hospital, and we had so much fun. He’s a great guy and a really good actor. A Martinez is the best guy ever. I have such admiration for him. Whenever I see him, we always really connect and to be in included with him is great. Bryton James, I don’t know, but I know he beat me in this category in 2020. Mike Manning, I didn’t get the opportunity to know when he was at DAYS as he weren’t in scenes together, but I hear good things about him, too.

Photo: JPI

When you are judging Emmy reels, what do you look for when you’re voting on a performance?

WALLY: That’s a really great question. And because let’s face it, there’s just a lot of terrific talent in daytime. This year, I judged two categories. I don’t just go with, “Okay, who’s crying the most.” I really try to go with the one who’s touches me the most, who surprises me and moves me. And so, if you go with that, you’re probably going in the right direction. I also think that upfront you do need to kind of give them something in the first couple minutes that shows you know what you’re doing and don’t make it too repetitive.

Who did you first tell you were nominated?

WALLY: My manager, Michael Bruno called me. I was in Chicago with my daughters having a late breakfast and I knew the nominations were going to happen around 11 am Chicago time. I didn’t tell my daughters about what was happening, just in case, I didn’t get nominated. So, when Michael called, I went, “Oh, boy!” I told my daughters who were sitting at the table with me. So, they were the first two people that I could tell, and that was really nice.  We had champagne which was really funny because I bought three little glasses of champagne, and as soon as I bought it, we toasted. They said, “We don’t really like champagne.” So, I ended up drinking all three glasses. (Laughs)

Photo: JPI

What do you think of Eric Martsolf (Brady), your Day Players Band member, and DAYS co-star getting a Lead Actor nomination?

WALLY: I remember, I was like talking to him and I was like, “Eric, are you going to submit yourself?” And he is like, “I don’t know. I don’t really have anything …” And the next thing you know, he’s nominated. I’m like, “Wow! I guess he found something!” (Laughs) I love Eric. I have such respect for him and his gift, and he works really hard. So, I was very happy for him. I’m glad we weren’t in the same category, however.

How many years now have you been playing Justin on DAYS?

WALLY: I started here 37 years ago in 1987. I was there for four years and then I left. Then, 18 years later, Ken Corday (EP, DAYS) invited me back in 2009 and I’ve been on the show now for 15 years. So, I guess a total of 20 years on and off over the last 37 years. Everyone remembers 1987-1991 … those were big, big years for Justin and Adrienne who back then were a supercouple.

Photo: JPI

Have you determined who you would thank in your acceptance speech if you win this year’s Supporting Actor Daytime Emmy?

WALLY: I feel like this year I kind of have an idea of what I would say. I think I can remember all of that without writing it down. If I had gotten nominated for both shows, I was definitely going to point out and thank the powers-that-be for giving me dual citizenship and how much I appreciate that. I do think that being on both soaps, I will go to my grave believing that it’s made me a better actor. In fact, since I’ve been doing both shows, I’ve been nominated for Daytime Emmys. I’ve become a better actor. I feel like maybe it’s just that I’ve gotten older and wiser, but I feel as though when I go in there to work, I’m really focused and I’m really prepared. I know I pretty much get one shot to get it. We’re in the business of “one takes” now in the soaps.

Photo: Peacock

People are so lucky to even have one enduring role in their careers, but you’ve been able to have two, and they’re completely separate characters on two legacy shows; one which just turned 61, General Hospital, and the other Days of our Lives which will soon celebrate 60 years, as well.

WALLY: I didn’t plan on it. I must have done something right. Back in 2009, Ken called me up and invited me back to DAYS. I really jumped in. I’d been out of work for four or five years. I went back with a whole new attitude about the work, about the genre.  In 2004, when I left General Hospital, I was kind of burnt out. Looking back on it, I didn’t have a good attitude and I was just done. I was kind of tired. New writers come in and sometimes, when you have new writers that look at your character differently, it can be very difficult, because you just know that their passion is not with your character. However, in this case, I’m like, “I’m going to take whatever the writers give me and do the best I can and do my job. Let the writers do their job.” I think the writers also know that I really respect them and I’m not going to complain. I’m not going to tell them what to do and I’m going to stay out of it. They have enough to work out. They have enough to do. I’m going to be the problem solver, not the problem creator. There are enough problem creators. Believe me when I tell you that every time I leave those sets, I’m like, “Thank you. I love it.  See you the next time I see you.” I know how lucky I am to do both shows and to have this opportunity to act at my age and still be sent scripts. I love the art of acting. I’d do it for free. The fact that they’re paying me and I am able to do this and work with these great, wonderful, talented actors every day, it’s kind of mind-blowing.

So, will you be rooting for Wally to take home the gold in this year’s Outstanding Supporting Actor in Daytime Drama Series at the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards on June 7th live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+? Let us know if you remember his nominated scenes from Days of our Lives via the comment section below and how they affected you.

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Photo: FOX

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

Photo: JPI

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you want to see Lisa Rinna reprise her Melrose Place role as Taylor McBride? Comment below.
