By Michael Fairman

Daytime Emmy winner, Kate Mansi made her first appearance on yesterday’s May 24th episode of General Hospital as the recast Kristina Corinthos-Davis.  The former Days of our Lives star takes over the role from Lexi Ainsworth.

As to Kristina’s story, it is revealed that Kristina is building an LGBTQ+ youth shelter with the help of her father, Sonny Corinthos. Kristina’s sister, Sam (Kelly Monaco) is concerned that she is not thinking through all the issues that come with creating and building such a space and shares her concerns with their mother, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

Enter Mansi as nuKristina with the renovation plans for the youth shelter.  She shares her excitement with Sam and Alexis.  An enthusiastic Kristina discusses the cosmetic changes she wants to make to the place and even shows her family, the Corinthos-Davis House logo.

Sam voices her concerns that in the past Kristina has great ideas and visions and how they don’t work out, because she never follows through.  Kristina gets angered and leaves the discussion to take a call from her contractor.

Remember, when Kristina lost her way, and then, seemingly everyone got looped in and involved with Dawn of the Dead cult?

Meanwhile, Molly (Haley Pullos in these scenes) is struggling with her inability to have a baby and tension is mounting between her and TJ (Tajh Bellow).

Mansi comes to GH with an impressive resume having been front and center as Abigail Deveraux on Days from 2011–2016, and then again in 2018–2020.  She took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award in 2017 at the 44th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. In addition, Kate has continued to appear in primetime, streaming and motion picture roles.

So, what were your first impressions of Kate as Kristina Corinthos-Davis? How did you like her interactions on-screen with Kelly Monaco and Nancy Lee Grahn? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

I love having her back on daytime.
She’s always been one of my favorites and is quite a dynamic actress.

She should have stayed on Days and let Lexi continue on GH…Frank screwed up. They’re both Emmy winners and had legacy roles that we loved them in.

Lexi chose to leave on her own accord.

No, Lexi did not. She was replaced. That said, Mansi did a fine job. She had similar mannerisms as Lexi and a smooth delivery.

Exactly. Lexi did a fantastic job.

Lexi was the one who made the decision to exit GH.

No, it was the show’s decision. Mutuality beneficial does not equal a mutual decision.

I agree with you. It looks like Kristina aged quite a bit. Please bring original Kristina back

In story, Kristina would be about 30. She was 16 in 2009 when she was being abused by her boyfriend. Lexi is 30 in real life but she has always looked much younger than she is.

The new actress is 35 but can easily play 30.

I agree bring Lexi back

Exactly

No

I don’t agree with you

I agree, she will be a great addition

I love Kristina on General Hospital. She is great. Hope she stays on General Hospital.

Agree!

Was her first day. Didn’t look like she was quite sure being on a new set. I’m sure she’ll feel like that’s her family given time. It’s always hard starting a new job. Go get them girl you have this. Welcome and looking forward to seeing her more

Same here, Shari—- as far as her age? Look at Sam— she plays a younger character than Kelly—and so many more. I know Kate will shine—-
I hope she devours every scene and also see a lot of her—-better than looking at sappy Willow overpowering Carly, wah-wah Michael and puny-boy, Dex.

I don’t care for Dex with the new “vixen” Joss. Why would a guy his age want a relationship with a 19 y/o? Can’t stand that they have been plying more makeup on her, sticking padded push ups bras & tight tops on her.

@GH watcher since 1978. Joss is going on 21 in the story, and we haven’t been told Dex’s age. But in real life the actor just turned 26. There’s no big age difference; both in their 20s.

Exactly my thoughts!

Kelly doesn’t play a much younger woman than she is in real life. Both “Sam” and Kelly Monaco are in their 40s.

Kate Mansi doesn’t look the age Kristina is supposed to be. I think Lexi just turned 30; Kate’s soon to be 35. I just think she looks too old for the role of little, younger, sister to Sam especially since the role’s been played by Lexi from the start.

I also think Lexi was given a raw deal. “Mutual agreement” means she was given the boot…

I loved her as Abby on DOOL, but not in the role of Kristina. For one thing, isn’t she about 15 years older than the character?

So happy to see Kate on General Hospital. Loved her n Days of Our Lives & was sad to see her leave. She will do a great job as Kristina.

Kate Mansi ina good actress and she will do a good job
As the new Kristina she was excellent as Abagail on
Days of Lives so I know she will be a great addition to the General Hospital addition and besides any character She can master the task of being
Alexis
Davis daughter and she will do a good job as she is a terrific actress
And I hope she get
A chance to really prove that she can master any task I hope she can help her sister Molly with her Endometriosis in trying to have a baby storyline she would be great in a surrogate storyline

I liked her.. perfect casting

I like her from her lifetime movies

Hate to say it… but the new Davis girls were excellent. It worked well seeing both new actress’ on the same day. I think they will be great replacements

Who was other new actress? Ooops! Didn’t watch GH today! Lol

Brian
Love Kate from Days and seeing the sister trio just looked like Nancy Ann Grahn had gotten two new daughters.

I couldn’t tell them apart they look alike to me.

THANK YOU, Marie. I’m glad someone else had that challenge! And I know it takes a new person a while to get in sync with a new show, that’s not usually a big problem. But… so far I’m not impressed. Maybe time will help matters.

I thought she was great!

Agree, but why hate to say it? The show must go on and I’m grateful there’s a great cast in place to sustain it

I think she looks like Marisa Tomei ! I thought she did a good job.

I was trying to think of who she reminded me of! Spot on.

I totally agree with you %!!!!! Every time I see her I see Marisa Tomei!!!! I just had to look it up and no where does it say that.

Hope bring back the original actress. And the same for Molly’s.

Agreed!

Love Lexi; I think she was treated horribly and was sad to see her go. On the other hand, thrilled to see Haley Pullos go. I hope the temporary recast becomes permanent.

She’s too tall for Christina, and the new Molly is taller than Alexis. Sorry, don’t care for either one.

Agreed……should’ve been switched and reverse the roles

Agreed but if they switched roles can you see Kate Mansi with TJ? She is too tall. Sam, Krissy & Molly are all smallish girls.

Kate Mansi is 5″2! The new Molly is the taller one; she’s 5’9″.

I agree I didn’t care for the both of them

The Molly is supposedly a temporary recast

Agreed

So agree….do not care for either of them….shame that Christina is not coming back and Molly maybe on long time away as she got a DUI

I agree with you

Maybe I’m just partial to the ” old” Christina, it’s going to get some use to the ” new” Christina.

I agree

Miss her on Days

Liked her on days she will be good I Miss the real Molly evidently she had a accident

The real Molly got a DUI and crashed into another vehicle injuring the driver. She is in a $2600 a week rehab

Ya think?

I think she was a natural to take over the role, I still felt Lexi’s version of Kristina and that Kate stuck to that but also made the role her own, I’m looking forward to seeing Kate and all her amazing talents.

I like her, she definitely looks like a Davis women.

Me and my wife don’t like her and don’t know her

Too bad, because she’s a great replacement for the one who chose to leave

Exactly! Sometimes people hate just to hate. Kate Mansi is a very good actress and will do a great job in this role. You have to give a person a chance.

Love her, she fits in perfectly!

She fell right into the scene as if she has been playing this character all along! Welcome back to daytime, Miss Kate!!

I think she did a great job! She looks like a Davis. I won’t comment on the Molly replacement.
Yes I will. Thw acting was fine, but she looks a tad bit too old to play Molly.

Lew S,
I agree . This Molly is just not right, can’t picture her with T.J.

She’s temporary

Completely agree!

Also too tall. Did Molly’s endometriosis make her grow 6 inches taller overnight??

For real? The show did a great job for an emergency, temporary replacement ofolly

Right!

Loved it.. love her acting!

I already miss Lexie! Kate is good and all but Lexie was one of my favorites. I cannot fathom why TPTB do not like her.

Consequently, I also preferred Marci Miller as Abby. Again, I like Kate just prefer the alternate actor on both shows.

Lexi chose to leave…wasn’t fired.

Not according to her social media. It was a “mutual decision” but she goes on to say that she was looking forward to the new storyline. Sounds like a forced decision to me. Read between the lines. ‍♂️

No, read the multiple stories. It wasn’t her decision.

I was not sure how I would feel as I do like her, but I liked the other actress as well. I admit I was really impressed with how she has stepped in and made Cristina her own. I think she works well with the other Davis family members.

I liked the old Christina much better. She has much more heart, and she had matured greatly after dawn of day.
I thought she was vicious to Molly! DON’T LIKE THE NEW CHRISTINA!

I liked her alot. Thought she said well.

So so. She needs more time.

Agree. When she first came into the house, didn’t like her at all. Thought she really was having a hard time during the the part with Molly. Last part with the apology, seemed more at ease. Will give her more time. Think she ages Kristina by about 5 years.

Love her I hope they show here a lot more than the other Christina

Mannerisms and even voice inflections sounded like the old Chrissy. . Close look alike . So good job!!!

Now we’ve got 2 KMs for the Davis sisters, so Kelly Monaco become KeMo & Kate Mansi become KaMa. Her first day she was excellent! She fit right in, brought plenty of energy to her role, etc. There are fans who are bruised over Lexi being let go but they mostly seem to be giving Kate a chance. Lexi has helped that by being so gracious. Right now Kate is trending on #SoapTwitter. A great sign. #Fans4WGAStrikers

Terrible over acts

Awesome she is amazing

She is an excellent actress and great job for GH hiring her.

Why did they recast? Lexi is kristina!

Lexi quit.

Lexi decided to exit GH.

Upset with the direction GH is going.

No chemistry between Grahn Monaco nor Mansi who was grsatvon DOOL. Giving it time. But cmon Lexi Ainsworth was perfect

Ainsworth needs to get straiten up personally

Not impressed . Miss the real Kristina

Great! Very seamless like she was playing it for years. She was my fave Abbi on DOOL.
Good job Kate!

My first thought was ” Abby get back to Salem! Chad and your kids need you.” No but actually she did good. In fact I like her better than the original, but I really do want her to go to Days Of Our Lives.

Nothing against the new Kristina but I liked the other Kristina better.

Like old Christina ! Please bring her back

Love her! Kate fits in so naturally. I hope she gets a big story.

Don’t like the new Kristina. Don’t like change.

Thiught she was great! Loved her, too, on DOOL!!

No! Just no! It’s not a good fit. Kate Mansi looks too old. And she doesn’t have that look of vulnerability that made Lexi so appealing.

Absolutely agree!

I think she’ll do a great job as Christina. She’s got the gutsiness that it’ll take. I like her.

She is great, seems more like one of the sisters.

Kristina fits the role better than Kate. Kate just doesn’t go well with TJ. Kristina plays the role better for the couple. Bring Kristina back please.

Love her. Miss Lexi, but couldn’t ask for a better replacement.

I like her as Kristina. She is a great actress.

I want the old Kristina back!

A great new replacement. She joined cast like she’d always been there. Great new fit.

Really good picks, both the new Molly and Kristina. They fit in well.

I think that both actresses are talented and attractive. However, GH picked the wrong one to replace Molly. She is too tall.

She isn’t a TJ fit. I have to give Christina’s replacement a little more time. The original had many facets to her character. She also had edge. I hope this new actress will not be one dimensionally sweet every day.

RATINGS: ‘The Young and the Restless,’ ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Remain No #1 and # 2, ‘General Hospital’ Only Soap to Lose Viewers

Published

The latest Nielsen ratings data is out for the week of April 27-May 1, and three out of the four network daytime dramas posted gains in total viewers, while one showed a loss in audience numbers, which may come as a surprise.

Let’s take a look at the ratings period with data from Soap Opera Network and then provide some context. The Young and the Restless remained as per usual in the top spot coming in at 3,14,000 on average total viewers slightly up +20,000 more eyeballs for the week.

In story, Y&R served up Matt’s plot to blow up the Newmans inside the abandoned gas station on the outskirts of Vegas, Sienna believing she killed Matt, only for him to be revealed alive with a severe contusion on his head by week’s end, Nick going on a bad drug trip thanks to the fentanyl laced with something else via Matt, and Cane and the Winters family learning that he is a donor match to save Malcolm’s life, while Sally got engaged to Billy.

FASHION HOUSE PROBLEMS

Y&R’s sister soap, The Bold and the Beautiful clocked in with 2,795,000 viewers for the week up +38,000 from the previous ratings period. In story, The Bold and the Beautiful gave viewers; the fallout from Katie’s successful fashion show for her new fashion house, Logan. Dylan continuing to be freaked out. This time when doing her work at Forrester Creations, out from the clothing rack comes somebody that scares her enough to have her let out a blood-curdling scream. In addition, Liam suggested to Hope that she consider coming to work for Logan where she will be appreciated, after Steffy tells her that ‘Hope for the Future’ is back-burnered for now.

General Hospital, which many have considered being the most entertaining on a consistent basis with their storylines, most likely lost some viewers for the week because on Monday April 27, the show was preempted for a special report on the attempted shooting at the White House Correspondence dinner. If viewers did not catch it on Hulu, it aired on the network after Nightline on Tuesday at 1am. In total, GH was the only soap to lose viewers for the ratings week. GH tallied -1,809,000 which is down from the previous week by -168,000.

PAYBACK AND A SHOCKING REVEAL

In story that week, Carly’s double life with Brennan and Valentin caught up with her, Michael initiated a strategic plot against Willow, and Josslyn found herself in immediate danger after a run-in with Cassius.

Beyond the Gates, while having two days of the week fully preempted for UEFA Champions League soccer games, actually increased its viewership. BTG tallied 1,655,00 total viewers which also boasted the highest audience gains across any soap adding +42,000. In story, the soap opera spotlighted: Ashley stealing antibiotics to keep Grayson alive, Smitty zeroing in on a possible suspect in the plasma ring, Vernon taking over Martin’s debt to Joey Armstrong, while Kate recognized a name tied to Lynette’s finances.

It should also be noted for the ratings week; The Bold and the Beautiful once again topped Y&R for the top spot in the key Womens 18-49 demo and in the Womens 25-54 demo, Beyond the Gates once again bested General Hospital for the 3rd spot.

*Nielsen ratings are based on the Live+Same Day Big Data+Panel model.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Would You Be Down With a Dante and Elizabeth Romance?

Published

on

By

On the Friday, May 15 episode of General Hospital, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) shared a heartfelt talk on trauma. Dante is so concerned for Rocco (Finn Carr), and how it affects someone for the rest of their life, which is something Elizabeth knows all too well, but got through it.

It all begins when Elizabeth shows up at Dante’s office ready for her date with Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst). How beautiful she looked did not go unnoticed by Dante. When the talked turned to how Dante told Rocco that he knew his son shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), he admits he is scared for his child, because he lost his innocence with the emotional baggage he now must carry forever of shooting someone.

Dante notices how Rocco is becoming more and more withdrawn and he wants to know how to help him. Elizabeth bring up how she can absolutely relate to trauma at a young age, just like Rocco. However for Elizabeth, her trauma came in the form of a brutal rape by Tom Baker. Speaking from experience, Elizabeth details that it was her friends and family like Lucky and Bobbie who helped pull her through. She encourages Dante to continue to show up and be there as support for his son.

SPECIAL DELIVERY

Next, an officer delivers to Dante the evidence from the pier shooting, which Dante plans on destroying. Before she leaves for her date with Ric, Liz reassured Dante he is doing the right thing to protect Rocco and she has done the same. She has left no record of Rocco’s hospital visit the night of the shooting. Liz leaves for her date.

THE WRONG SUSPECT

Then, Cullum storm troops in to Dante’s office demanding the evidence that the PCPD must have collected at the site of his shooting. Dante says that the evidence must be misfiled in the warehouse, but they will find it. However, Cullum realizes Dante is stalling and lying. Before heading to Dante’s office, Cullum paid a visit to Carly (Laura Wright) and saw a photo of Danny with Jason, triggering him to now believe that Danny may have been the person who shot him in the back on the pier!

DINING WITH RIC

At dinner at Café Cherie, Ric handed Elizabeth the folder with the priceless piece of artwork he’d purchased for her through Ava. Elizabeth loved it and went over to Ric and planted a kiss on him.

Will GH move Elizabeth into a romance with Dante? Do you think Liz and Dante make a cute couple? After today’s episode, it’s clear they very much like and admire one another. If so, what happens to Liz and Ric’s burgeoning repeat romance? Share your thoughts and picks via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Dante Tells Rocco He Knows He Shot Cullum and Will Protect Son

Published

on

By

In well-played scenes on the Thursday, May 14 episode of General Hospital, Dante (Dominic Zampogna) finally had a talk with his son, Rocco (Finn Carr) informing him that he knows the teen shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

Rocco has dreaded his father finding out, because he is the acting police commissioner of the Port Charles PD and feared his dad will have to arrest him for the crime.

Dante asks Rocco in his own words to recount what happened the night on the pier. He assured his son, he is not going to arrest him and noted there are very extenuating circumstances surrounding the crime.

Courtesy/ABC

FATHER AND SON

Rocco explained how he followed Britt  (Kelly Thiebaud) to the pier. Then, how Cullum attacked Britt. Jason (Steve Burton) showed up and fought with Cullum and how the gun came loose. He remembers the other weapon Cullum pulled out to kill Jason and that’s when he shot him.

Next, Dante explained that he was proud of his son for saving Jason and Britt’s lives. He also tells Rocco that he is very concerned in Britt’s involvement in all of this stemming all the way back to the Five Poppies, and feels she is still tied into everything that is happening.

Dante tells Rocco that nobody else can know about this involvement in the shooting. He also touchingly said, that he is his father, he will protect him. However, Rocco is worried that if the truth came out that he shot Cullum, his dad would be in serious trouble for covering up a crime. Dante tells Rocco, he should not worry about that right now, but he needs to stay in Port Charles so he and his mom can keep him safe.

A SHOCKING CALL

Suddenly, as father and son hug it out, Dante gets a call from Justine (Nazneen Contractor), alerting him to the fact that she just met with Cullum and he is looking for the evidence and the file from his shooting. Dante rolls his eyes, knowing things are about to go from bad to worse, and how is he going to keep his son safe from the evil WSB Director?

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Dominic Zamprogna always delivers a nice counterbalance to the often histrionics of other characters in Port Charles in his portrayal of Dante Falconeri. So that, when Dante breaks or gets emotional, it counts. Finn Carr has continually shined in the storyline as Rocco continues to teeter on the edge of knowing what he has done and being wracked with guilt. Next up has to be Danny learning his brother is the reason Jason was carted away. Stay tuned!

So, what did you think of the scenes between Dante and Rocco? How on earth will Dante keep Rocco safe? Share your thoughts via the comment section.
