REVENGE Gabriel Mann Interview: Season Three Preview, Nolan & Ems, Hamptons Messed Up Love Life & Twitter!

After the complicated twists and turns of season two of ABC’s hit primetime soap drama in the Hamptons, Revenge, season three looks by all accounts to have been freshened up and streamlined so viewers can continue to invest in the characters they love and hate … or, in the case of Revenge, think they love and hate until the next bombshell drops!

One of the most charismatic cast members of the series, who is adored by fans worldwide, is Gabriel Mann, who plays the ingenious and cunning software inventor and computer hacker, Nolan Ross.  While Nolan is best buds with his “Ems”, Emily Thorne (AKA Amanda Clarke) their relationship has been on a bit of a rocky road of late.  Meanwhile in season two, Nolan’s love life was a big ole’ mess: there was that girl, and yes, there was that guy.  In addition, Nolan found himself in the middle of plenty of peril and danger thanks to the Graysons!

On-Air On-Soaps caught up with Gabriel to chat about his presence on Twitter, which rivals no other from the ABC drama, what he thought of the conundrum Nolan found himself in season two, and where it’s all heading for the beloved character as we kick-off season three Sunday night at 9PMEST/8PMCST!

I love how enthusiastic you are on Twitter for your show!  You are really into it. You have truly harvested that whole aspect of social media for promoting, touting, and engaging fans who watch Revenge!   How come you decided to take social media by storm?

GABRIEL:  I realized it was a show that is so fan driven, that it only makes sense as that feedback started to roll in as the series had been going for awhile.  It was really nice to have that interaction with people. It became really nice to have this organic process of getting people’s feedback and the way that consciously or unconsciously it will start to play in the way things go on the show.  Whether it be the performance, or what have you, that is a real miracle of modern technology and social media.  We are so lucky that this year we have everyone from our show runner, Sunil Nayar, down to give or take a few of our actors who have not jumped on the bandwagon yet.  We have our writers, producers, and showrunner on Twitter!  I think it makes for a sort of more in-depth way of experiencing the show than just watching it.

What did you think about season two for Nolan and his confusing love life?  He had this relationship with Padma (Dilshad Vadsaria), and then there’s his ex Marco (E. J. Bonilla), who walks back into his life!  Were you saying to yourself, “Where is this going?”  Did it kind of seem to get lost in translation to you in the middle of the story?

GABRIEL:  I think we all were like, “Where is this going with the show?” (Laughs)  So much of the time we don’t know what is going to happen next, but I think season three is very much refocused.  We are out of the boardroom and back to the beach!  I would say sexual manipulation is a big part in season three. We got to explore what Nolan would be like if he had a High School sweetheart and a prom date in season two.  And certainly now that has been destroyed, I think he is busier now taking numbers and not taking names this season.   Is it love …or, is it revenge?  I think we will have to wait and see!  Nolan is not on the path to looking for true love. Whether he stumbles across it, who knows?  Would that make me scared for the character who plays his love interest? Yes, because it usually doesn’t end well for people who fall in love with Nolan!  (Laughs)

What do you think now about the friendship between Emily (Emily VanCamp) and Nolan?  It has endured, but there seems to be some significant trust issues there!

GABRIEL:  Absolutely!  I think there will continue to be trust issues between the two of them, but I think at the very least, there is a common ground and common understanding between the two of them that is a jumping off point for where this season begins.  I think they now have a common interest in taking down a common enemy, because they both have been hurt in very deep and irreparable ways by this very devious, evil, and ubiquitous family.  I think that will set them up in a similar path in season three.

Do you think this character of Nolan Ross is everything you now want it to be?  It really took off for you when the audience, and I presume the writers, took notice of how well you delivered the one-liners and zingers, and then you were able to bring the dramatic elements to it in your performance.  You seem to have shaped this role and informed it.

GABRIEL:  Thank you, that’s a good way to put it.  For me, you want to be just more than a one-liner.  It really was important for me to find the heart and soul of who this guy was, and sort of keeping the balance of being great with a quip, but at the same time having a heart as big as Texas, and at the same time sort of being able to be kind of devious.  Somewhere in between those three things is where I firmly wanted this character to live.

So, as we head into the premiere of season three, what do you think we can expect for Nolan’s journey?  Is he getting to the place where you want him to be?

GABRIEL:  I am really happy as to where we have come so far, but I am even more excited to continue to explore where he goes next.  I think we have seen what it looks like when Nolan has his heart broken.  We have seen what it looks like when Nolan is very, very angry.  We have seen what it looks like when Nolan is out for blood.  So now what happens when he is all of those at once?  It’s about taking all of those elements and infusing them together.  Yeah, I think we will see a little bit older, a little bit wiser, and a little bit tougher, but certainly as sharp as ever Nolan Ross in season three!

So, Revenge fans, what are you hoping for Nolan Ross for season three of the series?  Romance, revenge, or something else?  Are you enjoying Gabriel’s performances?  Share your thoughts below!

Another great interview Thanks Michael. Love Nolan and Gabriel Mann is such a sweetheart <3 This Aussie fan cannot wait for Revenge Season 3 to start. So excited about Justin Hartley joining the show and breaking some hearts. My poor Nolan to get out of jail .

Lovin Gabriel Mann/Nolan Ross.., he is awesome!!
Season 3 of Revenge will be great, looking forward to its return tomoor night!!!
Revenge and Scandal are 2 must see prime time soaps!! Drama at its best!!

I love Revenge and haven’t missed an episode! I LOVE Nolan/Gabriel… he is my favorite character and actor on the show. I wish we saw more of him! Gabriel is very talented and extremely interesting… I just want to see more and love the complexities he brings to Nolan. I want more of Nolan with Emily/Amanda and more of Nolan with everyone else… love Gabriel as Nolan!!!

I would love to see E.J. Bonilla return as Marco and have that relationship explored. I really didn’t get any sense of closure or understanding of the dynamics between Marco and Nolan.

Oh yes! My “favorite fabulous fashionisto” finally returns!!!!! Nolan is simply adorbs….love his witty, urbane humor, way with words, unwavering loyalty and of course, his cool, preppy goes haute look. A better BFF could not be desired….so envious of Ems!!! That being said, the show is always at its prime when Mr. Ross is gracing the screen with his presence….as far as I’m concerned, there is no “Revenge” without Gabriel Mann!!! He is like the ultimate, essential fashion accessory come to colorful life….and speaking of, hope his new digs include a massive walk-in wardrobe….would like nothing better than to see this designer devotee larking about in his extensive collection of chic, sartorial splendor!

Jonah Robinson Joins the Cast of Days of our Lives as Dr. Mark Greene

If you caught last Wednesday’s June 12th episode of Days of our Lives, a new doctor came running into Horton Town Square shirtless; much to the delight and then eventual chagrin of Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart).

Enter actor Jonah Robinson who is now on the Peacock streaming soap opera in the recurring role of Dr. Mark Greene. We meet Mark when Leo tries to hit on him, only to have Mark clarify to Leo he is straight, shocking Leo that his gaydar could have been so off.

Later, Mark is at University Hospital and stepping in for Chanel’s (Raven Bowens) doctor who was called away for the day and he assures Chanel and Johnny (Carson Boatman) that their unborn baby has a strong heartbeat, and at the moment is doing fine.

During the conversation, Mark reveals he is the big brother to his little sister, Felicity (Kennedy Garcia), with whom Chanel loves when she comes to the bake shop.  There was also a little ‘wink-wink’ moment, when Johnny recalls that the doctor on the hit NBC medical drama, ER, was named Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards), to which Salem’s Mark Greene, says he was named after.

Taking to his Instagram, Robinson shared, “Meet Dr. Mark Greene. So excited to be joining @dayspeacock. It’s an honor to be @kennedyjean04 @louis_tomeo ‘s big brother.”

So, it looks like there are 3 Greene siblings.  Will we eventually meet the parents?

Before Days of our Lives, Jonah was seen on Peacock’s Daisy Jones and the Six, and has appeared in independent movies and musical theatre productions throughout his career.

Do you hope DAYS expands Jonah’s role as the Greene family becomes more entrenched in story? What are you first impressions? Comment below.

AnnaLynne McCord Previews Her Days of our Lives Debut; But is She Playing Abigail?

Next week, circle Wednesday June 19th for the on-screen debut of AnnaLynne McCord said to be a “mystery woman” on Peacock’s Days of our Lives, as Chad (Billy Flynn) and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) are on the case to try to see if they can find any leads to find an alive Abigail,

McCord, who has her own soapy history having appeared in roles on TNT’s Dallas reboot and the 90210 reboot, comes to Salem with plenty of television experience in primetime.

Now that Chad was told by Clyde Weston (James Read) that Abigail is actually alive? Could McCord be playing a recast Abigail? Since it appears Marci Miller did not come back to the show to reprise her role? Or, is McCord playing a completely different character.

Photo: JPI

To prepare viewers for emergence on the DAYS canvas, AnnaLynne spoke to Soaps.com where she explained the genesis of who she is or might be playing.

Following the end to the SAG-AFTRA strike in November of 2023, the idea of McCord coming to DAYS began to percolate, and she actually started taping at DAYS in January of this year.

Photo: JPI

Citing a lot of upheaval at the time, McCord was not clear on what part she was going to be playing, “To be frank, it was very ambiguous in the beginning. Obviously, there was a writer transition and everything that was going on within the industry politically so to speak. So when I initially came on, no one really knew who I was gonna be. We were figuring it out as we went.”

Photo: JPI

However, McCord did tease, “What fans who are clearly very clever will come to figure out very early on is that a certain gentleman who is not quite so gentle by the name of Clyde Weston has his fingers in the storyline of my character. So I enter day one as ‘Mystery Woman.’”

So, do you think AnnaLynne McCord will be the new and alive Abigail Deveraux DiMera, or do you think she is playing someone brainwashed to believed to be Abigail, or she is playing a totally different character? Share your theories via the comment section below.

Tom Arnold to Guest Star on The Bold and the Beautiful

The Bold and the Beautiful is adding a new pilot to its cast of characters to fly the Forresters overseas this summer to Monte Carlo, and it’s none other than Tom Arnold.

According to US Weekly, Arnold will appear in two upcoming episodes of the CBS soap opera airing at the end of July.  In story, Arnold will play the Forrester’s new pilot named Captain Deuce Stevens.

Arnold said of working with the B&B actors and crew, “It was great fun. People love The Bold and the Beautiful. The loyalty, the fans, the opinions … I started going online and listening to fans argue about certain things. It’s like sports.”

Photo: JPI

In the scenes, Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) head back overseas to relaunch the iconic, Brooke’s Bedroom fashion line for Forrester Creations.

One of the more hilarious behind the scenes moment Arnold shared, was with now two-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor, Thorsten Kaye: “I was in makeup and this guy comes in and goes, ‘Hey, can I get you anything?’ I go, ‘I don’t know, do you have Sugar Free Red Bull?’ This guy who I thought was the crew — he had a very hard handshake — was Thorsten. The rich, wealthy father.”

Photo: JPI

As a preview of one of his scenes, Steffy will be running late to the flight and cannot locate her passport. Tom shared, “One thing that is true is you have a window to land at the airport. And if you mess around and you’re late, you will miss that (window). I like when there’s some reality to this stuff. It heightened the scene because Steffy forgot her passport.” Look for MacInnes Wood to pull off some “I Love Lucy-esque” moments.

Arnold added, “You expect (the drama) for a character, but it opens the doors for some hilarious stuff. It’s very funny because things are so dramatic that it lends itself to comedy.”

B&B is not Tom’s first foray into soaps, having previously appeared on General Hospital in the 90’s. He spoke on how he and ex-wife Roseanne Barr (who also appeared on GH as Jennifer Smith), were into daytime dramas, “Roseanne and I loved soap operas. (After I was on General Hospital), we ended up having all these folks on (Roseanne]) from the show, because soap operas are very good actors. They don’t mess around.”

Look for Arnold’s episodes to air on B&B on Tuesday, July 30th and Wednesday, July 31st.

So, what are your thoughts on Tom Arnold coming to B&B? What do you think of his respect for soap opera actors? Comment below.
