Suds Report – Engen update, Kanan to "Y&R" and more!

engan_sweater.jpgThis week’s Suds Report has an update on the Chris Engen travesty that occured a few days ago. Nelson Branco reports:

“Meanwhile, the Y&R cast is understandably upset with Engen who is walking out in the middle of a front-burner storyline during its climax. One of Engen’s co-stars tells The Suds Report that various cast members tried to convince him not to leave this meaty role. “Forget the gay thing for a moment,” says one leading man. “He’ll never work in Hollywood again because he walked out in the middle of a contract. You don’t do that.”

Another co-star claims Engen has been reportedly battling personal demons/issues for a while now. “He’s been ‘off;’ we’re not sure what’s happening with him. I think Chris is dealing with more than having to play out this [untraditional] gay storyline. He’s Catholic, but I think it’s more than that. As far as most of us know, Adam is straight, not gay — he [just has an affair] with Rafe to keep him quiet about Adam’s [plot to haunt Ashley].”

Insiders report the stressed-out actor had been relaying his concerns over his “dark and disturbing” storyline with producers and writers, expressing his fear that his character was becoming too evil and irredeemable. “Chris hates everything about his storyline,” says another co-star. “No one gets it — it’s a soap opera. We all wish we had his storyline.”

In more news, Nelson is confirming DC’s already mentioned return of Sean Kanan (Deacon Sharpe) not to his former soap “B&B”, but  to “Y&R”.  Is Deacon behind the artwork storyline that has our Daniel tie up in knots? Or is painter and shocking “Y&R” returnee Thom Bierdz somehow involved?

On another note: the Emmys went without a host, but had Reno 911  actor and comedian Thomas Lennon’s offering up running commentary, that was seen by many as annoying and at times tasteless, and there was even one remark about former Emmy winners (Felicity Huffman) being in jail watching the Emmys when she has not even started her prison time.
